What makes you pickup a camera?
I am asking you this whether you are a professional photographer or a person that just enjoys taking photos for fun. I can answer for myself that the VERY first reason I wanted to own a camera was to take picture of my friends and I, and our friends, having FUN! Memories I wanted to show, share and remember! When I turned that corner into shooting professionally, it came to fruition because of what was a borderline obsession of photographing as much of my daughter’s lives as I could. They were my reason, my motivation and my models to help me learn more of the ins and outs.
The reason why I decided to blog about this is credited to a photographer I greatly admire, Jonathan Canlas. He promotes, practices an encourages shooting personal projects. This blog will probably MAINLY be interesting towards professionals in the industry, but I believe it’s important to think about, no matter what type of shooter you are. Jonathan makes a really good point. Thinking about your body of work over the years. Do you go back and cherish photos of families who you don’t know, or photos of YOUR family? Are you proud of your portfolio and blessed beyond belief to be able to do for others, what you want for your own family? YES… x 100!! Just be sure to remember to ALSO photograph what is important in your OWN life, to ensure you walk away with a body of professional work, and a body of personal work that will tug at your heart strings!
These people are my world, and I embrace every chance that I get to get them in front of my camera.
Farron saw it, grabbed my camera, and started shooting. I am SO glad that she did…that memory, that moment…. <3
These last four images were also taken by Farron, because she saw something I was missing. THESE, are the moments that I will be so happy to have at the end of the day. I relish in being able to create beautiful images of other people’s families, but also remember that I will always want those same memories of my own little brood.
Any thoughts, comments, ideas, let me know!!
Thank you for stopping by, always!!
Until next week…
